INSTRUCTIONS

‘I spy‘ is one of the easiest ways to get students using their Spanish. This can be played with any number of persons, whether two or a large class divided into teams. The beauty of this is activity is that you can evaluate how well your students can use the vocabulary they have learnt and how well they can describe an item in Spanish.

There are many ways to play this game:

  • Players can look for a food item that begins with a specific letter
  • Players can look for a food item that is a certain colour
  • Players can look for a food item that has a particular taste or can be described as ‘comida chatarra’ o ‘comida saludable’ etc.

There are a few decoys with clothing items. You can even use it has a review of clothing as well if you have done the topic before.

It starts with the rhyme in Spanish:

Version 1

A – Veo, Veo

B – ¿Qué ves?

A – Una cosita / Una comida / Una pieza de ropa

B – ¿Qué cosita / comida / pieza de ropa es?

A – Empieza por la [letra]

Version 2

A – Veo, Veo

B – ¿Qué ves?

A – Una cosita / Una comida / Una pieza de ropa

B – ¿Qué cosita / comida / pieza de ropa es?

A – Es una comida chatarra deliciosa

B – ¿De qué color es?

A – Es de color [amarillo y rojo]

HOW TO USE INTERACTIVE PRESENTATION:

The yellow spy hole is a draggable element.

  • If you are teaching your students in a virtual classroom, you can share this link with your students and allow them to share their screen to search for the item that the student A chose.
  • In the classroom, a student or teacher can drag the spy hole to the item that student B thinks student A sees.
